In the scenario that my methodology was wrong: the way I installed UOP was using the Create function in OBMM, adding the archive downloaded from tesnexus, naming it, finalizing it, and then double-clicking it in the right-pane of OBMM.These are glitches that can result in a player advantage of some form. Is it time to go barebones and do everything by hand?

Like, really? Is the state of modding in such poor shape that one mod can't be installed via a mod manager without going tits up? Each time I uninstalled, I made sure to uninstall/remove mod managers first, then the game, then leftover directories in Users and SteamApps/common so I don't think it's anything residual corrupting my install.

Install the first mod on my list: UOP - boom, broken already (wasn't getting past the Beth logo) Install OBMM, OBSE, and BOSS - game ran successfully On the last attempt, I decided to test the game each step of the way. Grabbed Vortex and BOSS and started over - didn't work. Grabbed Vortex and went to town getting all of my old mods - didn't work. Went to tweak the settings for Oblivion XP and I broke that mod so I did a complete reinstall instead of troubleshooting the issue local to Oblivion XP (big mistake!). Started the game up on Steam with all of my old mods and the last working version of NMM that I had and everything worked fine. Hail Citizen! Welcome to /r/oblivion!
